Excel MIN function and formula to get the lowest or smallest number of numeric data

Excel functions and formulas are designed to minimise our task. Various tasks can be perform using appropriate formula and save the time.

Microsoft Excel's MIN function/Formula is used to find the lowest or smallest value of the data table. It is as simple as it looks.


Syntax:

=MIN(number1, number2, number3, number4,….)

OR

=MIN(cell_range)

  • start typing =MIN function following open bracket (
  • enter the numeric values or you may select cell range of numeric data
  • complete the ) bracket and press enter


Let's a simple example:

There is a list of data that contains numeric values and I have to find the lowest one. Here it is go like,

I wrote the formula as above and the answer is as below - here I found the lowest value which is 538.
